Introduction

As a DNP leader, you will be called on to determine the relative importance of various types of data. Sometimes what looks significant, may not be, and vice versa. In this lesson, you will learn to determine the incidence rate, attributable risk, and relative risk of populations.

Before you begin this assignment, review this week’s Learning Materials, Instructional Materials, and complete Practice Quiz 7.1: Determining Risk.

Scenario

A cohort study following a group of 2,000 randomly selected adolescent females over four years finds the results shown in the following table.

Assignment Guidelines

  1. Review the data provided in Table 1.
  2. Download the Determining Risk (Excel) (Links to an external site.) spreadsheet.
  3. Use the formulas in Excel to complete these requests. Use cell locations, and not the actual numbers:
    1. Calculate the incidence rate (IR) for dropping out of high school for all three groups (pregnant, not pregnant, and total).
    2. Calculate the attributable risk (AR) of dropping out of high school for adolescent females who become pregnant.
    3. Calculate the relative risk (RR) of dropping out of high school for adolescent females who become pregnant.
    4. Create a Word document where you will embed the Excel file (see instructions in the “Formatting and Mechanics” section), then add the interpretations of these results for each request in your own words..

Formatting and Mechanics

  • Create a Word document.
  • Use landscape orientation for the page layout.
  • Embed into the Word document the Excel file with the formulas you used to calculate the answers. (Open the Word document and select insert on the ribbon; select object. The object dialog box will appear. Select create from file. Choose Browse and select the Excel file you want to embed.)
  • Under the Excel table, add three bullets with your interpretations of these results in your own words.
  • In the Word document, include:
    • Your embedded Excel file
    • Your interpretations of the results in your own words

Data encryption and reporting procedures to track and disable stolen devices also ensures better security for portable devices. Phishing and spamming are common on mails especially corporate and constant warnings and reminders not to open all mails and reporting suspicious mails also helps in preventing attacks (Shrivastava et al., 2021). Cloud technology makes data and information security more interesting.
