Evidence-based practice (EBP) projects aim to improve health outcomes by introducing positive change. EBP projects allow nurses to solve practice problems by implementing scientific evidence (Hashish et al., 2020). The implementation is critical to the project’s overall success. It represents the logical conclusion where the project’s plans, visions, and proposals become a reality. Implementation models provide guidelines for successful implementation.

The most appropriate theory/model for the project implementation is the Implementation Research Logic Model (IRLM). Smith et al. (2020) demonstrated IRLM as a stepwise guide to project implementation involving determinants, implementation strategies, mechanisms, and outcomes. As a core element of the IRLM, determinants include the factors that enable or hamper the implementation. They include the organization’s resources, preparedness, and organizational culture. The second component, implementation strategies, includes supports that increase the adoption of evidence-based interventions into usual care. Suitable examples include a team-based approach to implementation or an organization-wide solution to a problem. Mechanisms of action include processes through which the implementation operates to actualize the projected outcomes (Smith et al., 2020). For instance, training nurses to enable them to cope with change is a mechanism of action. The last component is the outcomes. In EBP, outcomes are the effects of purposeful actions after implementing practices, services, or new treatments.

Concerning leadership strategies, inspiration, engagement, and team-based decision-making are critical to the implementation of my project. Since the project requires an organization-wide training of nurses, inspiration and engagement are vital. Chu et al. (2021) described inspiration and engagement as core components of transformational leadership, where a leader inspires the team to achieve a shared vision. A team approach ensures that critical members are engaged in decision-making hence reducing resistance to change.
