A few of the primary care providers at Rancho Family Medical Group (RFMG) already expressed their desire for an automated and remote home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) for their chronic patients. This interest presents the need and opportunity for an evidence-based practice (EBP) project such as mine.

RFMG has its own leadership with a CEO and traditional executive-level officers and board of directors. RFMG is under a medical management group, Epic Management. Epic Management is a business management and consulting services for Southern California’s multi-specialty physician groups and independent practice associations. (Rancho Family Medical Group, 2023)

All these leadership channels need to be met to propose the EBP project using a presentation with cost and benefit analyses.

There are a few communication channels in the organization to disseminate evidence. The easiest and fastest is email announcements to all stakeholders – primary care physicians, nurses, medical office staff, and information technologist. Another is an announcement during the daily huddle before every shift starts. This time is reserved for important announcements and updates so this will be a perfect time where everyone is gathered to hear about the EBP and possibly open the floor to ask simple questions. The third opportunity is through the monthly staff meeting where there is more time allotted for discussing issues and updates and this will be a great time to fully present the EBP project to all staff.

Daily shift huddles are great at reaching the bedside nurses and others who may directly be impacted. Would you plan to have a stakeholder or a “superuser” present at those huddles for questions? I know it can be hard to get buy-in at huddles if the one presenting isn’t invested or is unprepared to answer questions that arise.
