Some strategies that would be effective in disseminating the information would be a PowerPoint presentation presented to the large stakeholder group, then dissemination of the power point via email to the other key players. Once the information has been shared with all, a couple of question-and-answer sessions would be helpful for those impacted to ask questions and share concerns. It would then be essential to have a handout or pamphlet that patients who will be involved receive informing them of the project. “Despite the many changes driven by communication technology advances, best practices for disseminating evidence and evidence-based information have remained relatively stable across time. To speak before an audience, present a poster, publish a paper, write a health policy brief, or place a story with the media requires sufficient preparation, planning, and, in most cases, the use of the same communications principles” (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2019).

I really agree with your thoughts on disseminating information. I also felt that a Power Point presentation would be helpful for my own EBP proposal. The oral presentation of the information would reach your auditory learners, while the physical materials would touch the learners who need a physical resource to go back to, or to take notes on. These ideas seem like they will be an effective approach to disseminating your proposal.

Great post! Dissemination strategies help to spread knowledge by using evidence based interventions and using venues to explain their success through social contexts or settings. A variety of channels are used to increase peoples ability to use and apply evidence.

The proposed evidence-based practice project (EBP) entails providing health education on Covid-19 vaccine plans for individuals at risk of Covid-19 to increase their willingness to take the Covid-19 vaccine. Dissemination entails targeted sharing of information and intervention materials to a target clinical or public health audience (Brownson et al., 2018). The dissemination strategies that will be applied in this EBP project include sharing the information on the healthcare organization’s website, publishing project findings in peer-reviewed journals, hospital seminars, and CMEs, and presenting the findings in national conferences of professional associations. Disseminating through the hospital’s website will be a highly cost-effective channel and will foster fast access to the EBP data (Ross-Hellauer et al., 2020). Publishing in peer-reviewed journals will ensure that the data is permanently available to the widest possible audience globally. Furthermore, I can organize a seminar in the hospital where I will invite the hospital staff to share the EBP findings.

The stakeholders needed to review and approve the proposed EBP project include the hospital’s management team including the director of human resource, the director of nursing services, and the director of finance. External stakeholders will include the local Department of health since the project involves educating the population about the COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, the hospital’s shareholders will need to approve the project since it will require human and financial resources.

The communication strategy to the stakeholders will involve various forms of communication. The EBP project will be communicated to the stakeholders through face-to-face meetings, presentations, emails, memos, and using the hospital’s notice boards (Boaz et al., 2018). Besides, communication on the project’s progress will be communicated through email updates, weekly progress reports, and face-to-face meetings.

Thank you for your detailed discussion on dissemination. I enjoyed readying how you plan to share to progress of the EBP as well. Melynk and Finout-Overholt, 2019 talk about multiple written, visual and oral ways to communicate such as speaking or poster presentations. Of course we live in a world of electronic communications and those are useful at reaching a vast number of individuals quickly.

A few of the primary care providers at Rancho Family Medical Group (RFMG) already expressed their desire for an automated and remote home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) for their chronic patients. This interest presents the need and opportunity for an evidence-based practice (EBP) project such as mine.

RFMG has its own leadership with a CEO and traditional executive-level officers and board of directors. RFMG is under a medical management group, Epic Management. Epic Management is a business management and consulting services for Southern California’s multi-specialty physician groups and independent practice associations. (Rancho Family Medical Group, 2023)

All these leadership channels need to be met to propose the EBP project using a presentation with cost and benefit analyses.

There are a few communication channels in the organization to disseminate evidence. The easiest and fastest is email announcements to all stakeholders – primary care physicians, nurses, medical office staff, and information technologist. Another is an announcement during the daily huddle before every shift starts. This time is reserved for important announcements and updates so this will be a perfect time where everyone is gathered to hear about the EBP and possibly open the floor to ask simple questions. The third opportunity is through the monthly staff meeting where there is more time allotted for discussing issues and updates and this will be a great time to fully present the EBP project to all staff.

Disseminating the evidence-based practice project proposal on early ambulation in postoperative patients requires a well-thought-out strategy to reach all relevant stakeholders, both internal and external. The dissemination process should focus on effectively communicating the project’s goals, methods, expected outcomes, and implications for practice. Internal stakeholders include the hospital administration, surgical unit staff, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals directly involved in patient care. External stakeholders may include other healthcare institutions, professional organizations, and policymakers interested in the project’s outcomes. The evidence-based practice project proposal can effectively reach both internal and external stakeholders by employing a combination of in-person interactions, written communications, and virtual dissemination methods (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2019). This comprehensive approach ensures that the project’s findings are widely disseminated, fostering evidence-based practice and facilitating the potential adoption of early ambulation protocols in other healthcare settings.

Daily shift huddles are great at reaching the bedside nurses and others who may directly be impacted. Would you plan to have a stakeholder or a “superuser” present at those huddles for questions? I know it can be hard to get buy-in at huddles if the one presenting isn’t invested or is unprepared to answer questions that arise.
