Topic 4 DQ 2

Statistical tests are used as part of research to help explore the impact of an implemented intervention. There are numerous statistical tests that can be used during the data analysis process. Therefore, it is important for researchers to use the most appropriate statistical tests to analyze their variables (Heavey, 2022). The evidence-based project proposal entails using a health education approach to increase people’s willingness to take the Covid-19 vaccine. As indicated in the earlier discussion, a cross-sectional approach will be used as the design, while questionnaires will be used to collect the needed data for analysis to determine the effectiveness of the health education program. As such, the chosen statistical test to be used in evaluating the outcome of the evidence-based project proposal is Paired sample t-test. The paired sample t-test will particularly be used to determine the willingness of the participants to take the covid-19 vaccine after the provision of the education program as compared to their willingness before participating in the program. Therefore, it is the best test.

The paired-sample T-test is usually used in comparing the mean of two variables for a single group. Therefore, through this test, the researcher is able to compute the differences between the values of the two variables for every case and then test if the average differs from zero (Kim et al.,2020). Therefore, this test has been chosen because it will help in comparing the mean of willingness to take the Covid-19 vaccine among the participants before and after participating in the health education. In addition, a difference will be shown if it exists. A difference will show that health education has a positive impact on the people’s or individual’s willingness to take the covid-19 vaccine, which will be an indication of improved vaccine uptake.

Because my EBP proposal is aimed at behavior analysis and change, I feel that the content analysis approach would be most fruitful. This approach will assist me in evaluating qualitative data derived from individuals’ reactions to education, opinions that result, and behaviors moving forward. This will also help me to apply these behaviors and changes as data to prove that my education provided was successful and meaningful. “Rather than being a single method, current applications of content analysis show three distinct approaches: conventional, directed, or summative. All three approaches are used to interpret meaning from the content of text data and, hence, adhere to the naturalistic paradigm” (Hsieh & Shannon, para 1).

I would use the Fisher’s Exact Test for my Evidence-Based Practice project (EBP). This test is used to determine if there is a significant correlation between two categorical variables or if there is no correlation at all in; which the test follows the null and alternative hypotheses: H0 (Null Hypothesis) here, the variables are independent and have no correlation in between and H1 (Alternative Hypothesis) here, the variables are not independent and have a correlation between them (Zach, 2020).

This test is ideal for the EBP project as it analyzes the correlation between the environment in which incidents happens to the problem itself. I would utilize this test in conjunction with quantitative data in order to formulate and adequate argument as to the reason violence occurs so frequently in healthcare.

The fisher exact test is a great test for your proposed EBP. I myself work in the ER and I feel at least three times a week there is some form of violence from either psychiatrics patients to those who just get frustrated with wait times. I’m sure your EBP will provide a more than adequate argument and correlation on why. Cant wait to hear about it more.

Fisher’s exact test is primarily used to analyze associations between categorical variables rather than examine the reasons or causes behind a phenomenon. According to Polit and Beck (2020), Fisher’s exact test should be used to test the significance of differences in proportions. The authors added that the test should also be used when the total sample size is small (Total N of 30 or fewer) or when there are cells with small frequencies (5 or fewer).

The Fisher’s exact test is a pertinent choice of statistical test for you independent and dependent variable association evaluation. Sharing Chung (2023) interpreting statistical significance related to clinical significance.
