EBP has improved the capability of decision making for nurses who are involved in critical decision making which has made EBP an essential component of the practice of a BSN-prepared RN as it standardizes practice which increases patient safety and improves patient outcomes.
Two ways in which I will continue to integrate evidence into my practice is by being a lifelong learner through continuing education course to keep me current on the latest of innovative research and technology. Through leading by example through practice, I can encourage EB practices within my work environment. The lack of time, knowledge and a general resistance to change are all identified obstacles that could challenge EBP implementation (Khammarnia, Mohammadi, et. Al., 2015). Engaging the appropriate stakeholders and administrative support are both strategies to overcome these obstacles or minimize their impact (ONS, 2022).

EBP is essential to the practice of a BSN-prepared RN because it allows nurses to make the best possible decisions for their patients. Nurses inexperienced with EBP may make judgments created on personal preferences or narratives rather than evidence-based research. This type of practice can lead to a heightened risk of errors’ also helps stimulate patient safety by ensuring that nurses use the most up to date practice and appropriate methods of care. This can help to reduce the incidence of errors and improve patient outcomes. I will Continue to seek out evidence-based resources to inform practice. I will Share evidence-based resources with my colleagues and encourage them to use evidence-based methods in their practice. Obstacles that can hinder my plans are as followed. Time constraints: It can be challenging to find time to read research articles or attend conferences. One way to overcome this obstacle is to set aside time each week to keep up with the latest evidence. Lack of resources: Not all hospitals or clinics have the budget to subscribe to research journals or send staff to conferences. In this case, nurses can use free online resources, such as the Cochrane Library or PubMed, to access evidence-based information. Funding constraints may limit the resources available for evidence-based practice. One way to overcome this obstacle is to Advocate for increased funding for evidence-based resources. Implementation barriers. Some colleagues may resist change or not see the value in using evidence-based methods. Evidence based practice (EBP) is an essential component of the practice of a BSN prepared RN. This allows nurses to see and evaluate different procedures, medicines, and policies to balance the risks and effectiveness of these items. Evidence based practice starts by forming a clinical question that addresses the problem, gathers evidence, analyze the evidence that was gathered, applies the findings to clinical practice, and finally assessing all the results (Why is evidence-based practice in nursing so important?, 2022). This benefits nurses as it allows them to understand risks and effectiveness of various treatments and diagnostic plans. As a BSN prepared RN, the advanced education and training significantly tests our scope of practice, but the competencies and skills needed to execute our duties We have a larger responsibility to our patients and thus, have to do in our power to improve the health outcome and patients of our safety. One of the key determinants of patient health and safety is evidence (Horntvedt et al., 2018). Evidence-based practice is vital as it ensures that a nurse’s practice is hinged on existing evidence, which is not only safe but also of good quality.
To keep the integration of evidence in my pirate and the work environment, the first strategy that I am likely to use is to promote a culture of continuous quality improvement. this will entails consistently, scanning the environment for gaps, and then using evidence to find solutions to these gaps and integrating them (Kerr & Rainey, 2021). Another strategy would be to become a lifelong learner and this means that I will constantly seek ways to improve my own knowledge and education about healthcare and health evidence based strategies.
It is likely that due to these factors, I may face some barriers, with the major barrier being resistance to change. To counter this, I am committed to using evidence based strategies such as Kotter’s 8-Step change model to improve on organizational change and reduce resistance.

As nurses, we play an important role in the implementation of evidence-based practices. Nurse one of the largest groups of healthcare workers that have an important role in ensuring the health of the patients (Khammarnia, 2015). The use of evidence-based practices plays an important role in the responsibility and professional development of nurses. The use of evidence-based practices plays an important role, and is integrated within our daily practices (Khammarnia, 2015). It has been shown that evidence-based practices allow nurses to make better decisions when it comes to patient care. There are many barriers that can prevent the use of evidence-based practices within the clinical setting. Some of the common barriers that prevent the implementation of evidence-based practices can include the lack of nurses, the lack of internet access in the workplace, heavy workload, and heavy patient load (Khammarnia, 2015). One of the more barriers to the implementation of evidence-based practices is the lack of time to be able to read the literature, and the lack of ability to work with the computer and internet (Khammarnia, 2015). There is also the lack of the ability to read the English language. Ensuring that nursing has the time to be able to research on the literature allows them to be proficient with the use of evidence-based practices. Being able to have the time can be a real time crunch for many healthcare workers. With the increase in nursing shortage, having the time to follow these practices can be hard for many.

Hello! The use of evidence-based practices looks to improve the quality of care being given across the healthcare system (Mississippi College, 2021). The use of evidence-based practices looks to improve patient outcomes. Using the most up to date practices and research can help to reduce the complications in relation to chronic conditions and to prevent additional illnesses or diseases (Mississippi College, 2021). Using evidence-based practices helps to ensure that patient centered care is used, to help to eliminate costs and expenditures and to improve the health of patients (Mississippi College, 2021). The use of evidence-based practices improves nurse education and clinical experiences to build upon that critical thinking skills. It also helps to improve the decision-making skills. With this, nurses are able to adapt to patient situations and use informatics and the interdisciplinary team. Nurses are also able to have a greater sense of confidence within their practices and work. Being able to apply this knowledge benefits all. It benefits the nursing community, and the patients care as well. The use of evidence-based practices helps to advance patient care and outcomes. Continuing to advance our education, such as with gaining our bachelor’s degree. We are able to find a great understanding of how to properly use evidence-based practices. Understanding how to best use the up-to-date practices and research, helps us to provide the best care for our patients. The application of evidence-based practice in nursing is essential because it enhances safe and quality of care among patients (Tucker et al., 2021). It is therefore important for nurses to recognize current evidence-based practices so as to effectively address the unique healthcare conditions affecting patients as well as improve health in the general population. Usually, registered nurses use validated interventions in delivering care to patients. While studying a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, nurses get exposed to evidence based interventions that are applicable in healthcare and this has been a critical component in patient care in recent decades.
The experience and education that I have received in studying my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program has helped me gain knowledge and skills on how to obtain, evaluate and implement the use of evidence in my nursing practice. For instance, I have been equipped with formulating a PICOT question that guides me in doing relevant and quality research in nursing. I have also gained knowledge in quality improvement, which is one of the critical areas in nursing practice. One way of integrating the use of evidence into practice is through performing educational activities that are essential in enhancing awareness of the adoption of change within an organization. Second, I will integrate all stakeholders while implementing evidence-based practice to prevent resistance from other stakeholders.
Some of the potential barriers to the implementation of EBP include resistance by some of the stakeholders and lack of adequate resources to implement evidence-based practices (Wang, Bero & Grundy, 2021). Most of the stakeholders are in most cases opposed to any changes within an organization including the implementation of evidence-based practices. To overcome resistance, it is important to involve all stakeholder. Also, working with other support groups such as professional organizations including the American Nursing Association which can help in advocating for the implementation of EBP.

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an important aspect of the health care field. Research is constantly being done to find ways to improve and provide the best patient care. EBP is evidence that something is the best way to do something or the best practice of something (Belita, et al., 2021). The writer is a proponent of EBP in nursing. Nursing is about protocols and procedures. When evidence is shown that doing things a certain way works best, this not only is important for nurses to know but in the end, it is of most benefit to the patient.
The writer plans to continue the same practice as now, research and continued interest in best practice. The writer will utilize internet searches and journal articles to investigate best nursing practices. Second, the writer will continue to bring up these findings to change committees and management to foster a best practice environment. The best way to approach bringing EBP to others is to do the homework prior to. It is important to be knowledgeable of the material, the implementer must be intimately familiar with the material. Also, knowing what value and importance it brings to the organization or people is paramount (Cassidy, et al., 2021). Cost is another consideration that must be made. Some EBP change could be costly compared to the present situation. In recent years evidence-based practices have gained significant recognition as a core component of the BSN-prepared nurse. This is so because evidence-based practice enables nurses to evaluate varied research to help them comprehend the risk or effectiveness of a diagnostic test or treatment. Evidence-based practice also equips nurses with the requisite knowledge and skills to develop patient-centered care approaches while making decisions based on the best available evidence. The patient is incorporated in their care and has a voice in the decision-making process on matters that affects them (Abu- Baker, 2021).
Evidence-based practice also helps the BSN-prepared nurse to integrate the current best available evidence, and clinical expertise while encompassing the patient’s perception and circumstances. Evidence-based practice helps nurses to develop the profession of nurses by bridging the gap between nursing education, and research, while standardizing nursing practice to improve clinical patient outcomes, minimize healthcare costs and improve healthcare quality (Eastern Illinois University, 2022).

Evidence based practices is an important aspect of the nursing practice. The use of evidence-based practices provides us with up-to-date practices and ensures that patients are receiving the best care possible. The use of evidence-based practices allows nursing to have more opportunities for the nursing care to be more individualized, effective, and to be able to maximize clinical judgment (Youngblut & Brooten, 2001). When evidence-based practices are used, the best practices are used and continued knowledge is used and developed (Youngblut & Brooten, 2001). The healthcare system is continuously changing, and so must the practices that are put into place. The patients we see and care for are growing in complexity as well, continuing to have up to date practices is how we can manage those patients’ conditions. There can be barriers as well when it comes to the implementation of evidence-based practices. Some of these barriers can be staffing shortages, heavy patient caseloads, lack of time, commitment, limited knowledge of evidence-based practices, and limited academic skills (Mathieson, 2019). The evidence-based practice change proposal I choose is on fall prevention, the use of bed alarms and the implementation of hourly rounding. We have experienced a nursing shortage as many places have that can hinder the use of evidence-based practices. The patients are growing in a heavier load as well with their growing complex health needs. It can be a challenging barrier when it comes to the use and implementation of these change practices. But the use of evidence-based practices needs to be at a top priority when it comes to ensure the best care is being provided. Speaking with administration, the hospital board, educators and more to ensure that these are being implemented. The hiring of agency staff and volunteers is great way to help with ensuring that there is enough staffing to care for the patients in our healthcare system. The use of volunteers is helpful to help just simply answering lights, so patients are not having to wait long on staff for example. But, ensuring that staff are able to have the resources and the education to ensure that the use of evidence-based practices are being used. Being able to take on that leadership role can help with taking on the change to implement these practices. With nurse educators, they can help nurses to understand how to properly implement these up-to-date practices. Continuing to evaluate and use the research allows these practices to be implemented. Unit managers and unit leaders are also helpful during this time to set a mission and keep communication as a clear message. This can allow staff to understand what is needed and expected of them to ensure that patients are receiving the best care possible. Having an environment that is able to adapt to change can help to ensure that these up-to-date practices are being implemented. Providing staff with education and training is helpful and ensure that the staff have the resources available to them. Continuing to evaluate the outcomes of the interventions is also needed. And ensuring that the staff have the resources to implement evidence-based practices. Continuing to communication and use my available resources to implement this change and provide the best care for my patients.
