1.I am familiar with pediatric but not so deep knowledge on performing assessments.
Assessment is very important that it has to be done in details. I have seen low birth weight babies before and how
they receive care.
End of the life care could be a challenge because it’s been a long time since I work with older adult. I am open to learning more about
this topic.
Assessment of diverse populations is the topic I would like to discuss with my instructor and classmates because we came from different cultures. The concern I have with this course is that there is no one to physically discuss with. You are on your own. You have to be able to meet the dead line in submitting your assignment whether you know what the instructor is asking you to do or not. Thus it becomes overwhelming and makes your weekend hectic.

After reviewing the weekly objectives, I can say that I do have extended knowledge on evaluating assessment of diverse populations, performing, and documenting a comprehensive health assessment, describing characteristics of the aging process, end of life care and focus assessments in adult patients. I just completed my clinical rotations in the pediatric, neonatal unit and had performed physical examinations and focus assessments on this population, but I do not have that much experience as with adult/geriatric patients. I would like to discuss with my classmates and instructor in this class about every topic but, to enhance my knowledge on infants, such as health promotion. I do not have questions now, but as the course advances, questions might arise.

- After reading over the weekly courses, the topics I feel have prior knowledge of are adolescents and adults/geriatrics. I work at a rehab/SNF currently and have a lot of experience working with the adults/elderly population. I also have many cousins/siblings that are all teenagers, so I have experience/knowledge on how to talk to teens.
- While I love working with kids, I don’t have much knowledge on infants or children as I have never really been around kids in a healthcare setting.
- I would like to talk more about how to interact/work the younger population as well as how to handle the scared parents of the sick kids.

I have worked as an LVN in a SNF and have knowledge of assessing geriatrics patients. As a first-time mom, I would be interested to discuss further what environmental factors pose an increased risk to infant health.
4. What questions or concerns do you have about this course?

As a Florida Registered Nurse, my previous knowledge and experience have provided me with a strong foundation in understanding the weekly objectives outlined below:
Topic 2: Health Assessment of the Toddler, Preschool, and School-Aged Child: I have conducted child health assessments and successfully integrated Erikson’s stages of child development into my practice.
Topic 3: Health Assessment During the Adolescent and Prenatal Periods: I am well-versed in utilizing the nursing process to conduct comprehensive health histories and addressing risk-taking behaviors in adolescents.
Topic 4: Health Assessment of the Young and Middle-Aged Adult: I possess extensive knowledge of strategies aimed at reducing at-risk behaviors in adults and have carried out comprehensive health assessments.
However, there are certain weekly objectives for which I have limited prior knowledge:
Topic 1: Health Assessment of Infants: I am eager to acquire evidence-based practices and effective strategies for promoting infant health.
Topic 5: Health Assessment of the Older Adult: I am motivated to broaden my understanding of the aging process, end-of-life care strategies, and focused assessments.
I am enthusiastic about learning from both my professor and classmates about best practices in newborn health promotion, population assessment, ethics surrounding teen pregnancy, and end-of-life care. My ultimate goal for this course is to enhance my proficiency in conducting health assessments for individuals of all ages.

1. As far as the topics look for our next few weeks of school I am excited to learn about them all! Similarly with my classmates I have a few years working experiences with the older generations in skilled nursing facilities. I have grown up being told that you learn something everyday, with that I am excited to continue my education with this topic and perhaps further any experience I may have.
2.I babysat throughout high school and college as my income and had a very basic understanding of children and infants. I also have a deep love for the younger kiddos so am very excited to dive deeper into that topic and take as much as I can from that.
3.I think any and all topics discussed between classmates is beneficial so I don’t think I really have a specific topic in mind for what I’m most excited for. Toddlers and children may be the most fun to learn and discuss because kids are so fun and everyone has such a different experience with them.
Which weekly objectives do you have prior knowledge of and to what extent?
Looking further into each topic section, I feel that with topics 1-3 I feel comfortable with, but I feel the most comfortable with topic 5 since I have had several years working with that age group. Topics 1-3 I have done clinical in the RN program for that age group setting so I somewhat understand the basic knowledge of how to approach those patients. I do have some interest in becoming a mother infant nurse, only because its something new to me and I enjoy learning about it.
