My name is Guerdie. I am a Registered Nurse in the state of New Jersey. I am currently enrolled in the MSN ( FNP) program. In my quest to become a scholar-practitioner, I have found Walden University to be the most ideal choice for my current step in this career path. The goals and mission of Walden University align with my ideologies and desires. As a health practitioner, one ought to acquire knowledge that they can use to solve problems and make the world a better place. This defines the vision of Walden University (Walden University, 2011a). Its graduates should be released to the community with the ability to apply the knowledge instilled in them by the institution to advance the greater global good.
The mission statement of Walden University stresses the graduates’ potential to affect constructive societal change (Walden University, 2011a). One method for measuring the success of a change program in the health care business is patient outcomes. As a result, I am working diligently at Walden to advance my understanding and, hopefully, my patients’ outcomes. Another objective of Walden University is to provide unique programs that meet the needs of modern society (Walden University, 2011b). As a health care practitioner, I anticipate being able to provide my patients with the most up-to-date and effective therapies, as opposed to relying on outdated and perhaps obsolete information.
Nursing and other medical professions rely heavily on evidence-based practice. Learning at Walden is a goal of the school that includes evidence-based practice in a wide range of methods (Walden University, 2011b). I’m looking forward to completing all of the university goals that have been established by the establishment. Above all, I hope to be able to make a difference in my field and in society as a whole once I graduate from this school.

My name is C.T and I am a new graduate Emergency Department Nurse. I recently just graduated in May and I have been working in my new role since July. While in school I provided tutoring to students in various classes which led me obtain a passion for teaching. My ultimate end goal is to become a nursing school and clinical instructor to undergraduate students. In addition, I plan to start a mentoring program for nursing students and new graduate nurses to provide support and advice to people in need. To be in the teaching profession, I knew that I needed to further my education to reach my professional goals.

Vision, Mission & Social Change
Walden University was referred to me by a colleague that also attended here and obtained her advanced practice degree. In doing my research of various programs, Walden’s program intrigued me because of the flexibility and dedication to professional development that they provided. As an aspiring professor, I want to uplift and contribute to change to upcoming nurses which relates to Walden University’s mission statement which is to “provide a diverse community of career professionals with the opportunity to transform themselves so that they can provide social change.” (Walden University, 2020) Being a professor, I want to instill lifelong knowledge to my students and leave an impression that motivates more students to want to become a professor just like me. There is a nursing school professor shortage and I want to help change that which will contribute to ending the nursing shortage we have today. Walden’s vision correlates with my professional goals because the knowledge I obtain from this school will help me spread what I know to other aspiring nurses that will eventually be working in various communities. Discussion: Networking Opportunities NURS 6003
Program Outcomes
Being an educator and leader, you must be able to communicate effectively which of one Walden’s learning outcomes. Effective communication is essential in being an educator and setting an example for other students. At the end of this program, I want to be a Nursing Educator that knows how to give information correctly and have professional dialog with my students. Also, I would like to know how to effectively assess and plan different diagnoses to become more competent in different disease processes. (Walden University, 2020) This goal is instilled in Walden’s MSN outcomes and will help me become more knowledgeable and be able to efficiently educate my students. As a future educator, my beliefs and goals are very similar to Walden’s Vision, Mission, and Goals. Proving a better education to the community is my passion and enhancing my knowledge through Walden University will ensure that I am prepared in my mission.

Hi C…,
When reading your post, I was impressed that as a new graduate you have already decided on a career path in education. The one bit of advice I wish had been offered to me when I was first starting out is to keep my options open. Don’t get me wrong, I have loved my career in the OR, but sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I had explored other options earlier on. The field of nursing offers an array of opportunities and one ever knows what doors may open. Schmidt asserted that “…developing a professional network with a broad scope will help you move in a new direction if desired” (2018, p.3).
During my career, one of the networking options that I have found most valuable is my membership with the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). Likewise, there are many associations for nurse educators that can provide you with tools and networking options to be successful in this arena. One that comes to mind is the National League for Nursing (NLN) which offers “professional development, networking opportunities, testing services, nursing research grants, and public policy initiatives” (NLN, 2020). Sometimes there are even discounted memberships available for students. I am a full believer of taking advantage of any knowledge source available. Discussion: Networking Opportunities NURS 6003

Peer Response 2
C…, I am so excited to hear that you have chosen not only the Emergency Department as your specialization but that you have intentions of going forward to educate our new younger generations of nurses coming through the rigorous program. The ED has been my home for 15 years and I love seeing nurses coming in green and blossom into successful independent warriors in the ED. Reading your discussion I am going to guess you have either just completed your orientation or are coming up on completing it. Congratulations! I commend your hard work and dedication and I am sure you will have lots of experiences by the time you move into the role of instructor.
Educating new nurses inside or outside of a clinical setting is crucial to their success in their career. In an article by the Journal of Emergency Nursing it talks about how imperative it is that new graduates coming into the ED spend time “ reinforcing their knowledge, learn and practice new techniques, increase their organization skills, develop their ability to prioritize, and become comfortable with the emergency nurses role” (Loiseau et al., 2003). As an instructor you will be able to help lay the foundation for your students to be successful when they enter the world of nursing. Taking mentoring classes and learning from your own experiences through your orientation process will be an asset that you will be able to bring forward to your own students someday. Classroom settings are great foundations, but they are not as valuable as real-world experiences in my opinion. A simulation manikin cannot replace the hands-on touch of a person but with your knowledge you can bring that simulation to life.
Discussion: Networking Opportunities NURS 6003
I remember crying more then not during my first year of nursing and I also remember how important my preceptor was for me but also remembering everything my instructors had taught me in school. They brought a wealth of knowledge to me personally and professionally and it holds true today when I sit back and think about my own path. Nursing burnout and stress are a big factor and you are correct that communication will help you to improve your overall goal of developing well rounded nurses. Nurses are in short supply and high demand and stress plays a big role in that. In an article in the Nursing Research journal it talks primarily about “the effect that stress has on the health and performance of nursing students can be mediated by other life stressors, as well as personal, behavioral, social and environmental factors that are experienced during school or earlier in life” (Alvarez et all., 2019). Every one of us who has gone through nursing school has experienced stress and burnout and we had not even stepped foot inside of a hospital. As a leader and educator you can help your students develop coping skills to take on the stress they will experience, as well as, give them your own experiencing and how you worked through challenges you faced. You will also be able to motivate your students to push through those days of doubts and show them not every day is gloomy, there are many exciting and rewarding days in the field of nursing. Good luck to you Chanel.

My Goals and University Vision and Mission
I have been a nurse for seven years and in these seven years I have become interested in advancing my career. The only way to do so, is by achieving my Master’s degree. In order to achieve my goal in the next five to ten years of a nursing leader, I have decided on the educational path of Nurse Executive. I began my search for the right program last year to help achieve this goal.
When I came across Walden University I was at first skeptical. I didn’t know if this was the right school for me. My first inquisition of the program gave me a different insight after speaking to an admissions recruiter. Walden University’s Mission states “The College of Nursing envisions recognition as a preeminent 21st-century school of nursing in which the contributions of nursing, health, and related sciences will transform the provision of nursing services along the continuum of care and across the human life span to meet the needs of individuals and local and global communities.” (Walden University, 2020, para. 4). This statement helped my decision of choosing this University to help me gain my professional growth. The words “the contributions of nursing, health and related sciences will transform the provision of nursing services” (Walden University, 2020, para. 4) explains what a Nurse Executive is and what the goal of the program entails. I wanted a school that would be more than just a degree but would show a different insight by the words of their Mission and Vision.
Outcomes and Perspectives
Sue Subocz, PhD states in her message “Throughout your journey toward graduation, please remember that you are never alone.” (Subocz, PhD, S., 2020) and this is more than words to myself. The online catalog page on the Walden University website is an excellent guide for academic growth. The catalog helps direct students to different online resources to help guide and grow personal academic growth. In my current role, I am able to utilize these resources to help grow in leading teams and develop leadership relationships. My goal is to be a Nurse Leader and Walden University has shown different ways to help grow me academically and professionally throughout the program outcomes and perspectives. I want to grow into a Leader that transforms nursing to another level. Receiving my Master’s degree from Walden University will help achieve this goal.

Discussion: Networking Opportunities NURS 6003
Hello all,
THIS AREA IS YOUR WEEK 1 DISCUSSION. THIS AREA IS NOT YOUR CLASS CAFE.
Networking Opportunities
This week you begin to lay the foundation for your academic and professional success. Your efforts begin with a vision, which includes your own definition of success. Your vision may vary from those of your colleagues, but this does not mean you have to take these first steps alone.
Walden University and the College of Nursing also have a vision and mission, which include helping you to make your own vision a reality. Members of your new academic community, such as faculty, support teams, and fellow students, can also be helpful. Current practitioners and other members of the professional community can also help you to clarify your vision.
This week’s Discussion asks you to think about how the Walden mission and vision and the College of Nursing mission and vision apply to your professional and academic goals. You will also begin to identify individuals and teams that can help you along the way, as you begin to design the “blueprint”—your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan—that will guide you toward your own vision for academic and professional success.

RE: Discussion – Week 1
I appreciate how you stated that your passion turned into your vocation. When you said this, you spoke for a large number of nurses. Nursing is a science, an art, and a calling that is motivated by a desire to aid others. The progression from novice nurse to expert nurse is one of the most fascinating elements of the nursing profession. Video by Laureate Education (2018). In addition to the teams or individuals with whom you will collaborate on the path to your advanced degree and in your professional networking, I recommend that you include the staff, faculty, and students of Walden University as well as your coworkers. According to Schmidt, “… the bonds you develop with classmates, coworkers, and professional association members are absolutely genuine.” Schmidt

Excellent discussion post. The goal of extending your nursing knowledge through evidence-based practice in order to improve the life and health of your patients and community can be achieved at Walden University. As stated in the MSN learning outcomes, Walden will enable us to use evidence-based literature to support nursing practice decisions (Walden University, n.d.). I joined Walden after a colleague who is a Walden Alumnus recommended it. Already, Walden has provided me with fantastic networking opportunities. Sigma is a superb nursing excellence organization whose vision and mission include creating and inspiring nurse leaders to improve and transform healthcare if you are not currently a member (Sigma, n.d.). Sigma provides its members with professional development services, including as education, leadership, career development, evidence-based nursing, research, and scholarship (Sigma, n.d.).

Thank you for your post on your goals and the mission of Walden. It is encouraging to learn that you finally discovered your interest in nursing and decided to pursue a higher degree. As we progress in our nursing careers, we go from being young and inexperienced to learning a great deal from our experiences. We become “seasoned,” as they like to say, and we either continue working as we do every day or pursue a higher degree. There is nothing wrong with any path, but we must be passionate about the one we choose. According to Schmidt (2021), becoming a member of a great networking system that will lead us to success requires membership in a supporting group with a shared vision. Engaging in support groups and networking systems, including on social media platforms, enables us to express ourselves, seek assistance, direction, and even a mentor. Occasionally, we encounter persons who are eager to assist us on our path to success. It is the goal of Walden University (2021) to assist in the development of providers who will go out into the community and effect social change. This is an outstanding vision and mission in light of the fact that, as the world evolves, so do our methods. When we have a strong foundation and capable students, we can become effective and well-rounded service providers.

Hello Class,
My name is Savanna Jordan, and I am a current travel nurse who has dealt with Covid for the past year like most of you. Despite the fact that I adore my job, I’ve been feeling drained and understaffed recently. That being said, I’m eager to get started on this new educational journey and look forward to learning more.
the development of practitioners capable of effecting social change in the interest of the broader global good is discussed in Walden’s mission, vision, goals, and social change projects (2021). This aligns perfectly with my long-term career and academic ambitions of becoming a scholar-practitioner. Because I want to help everyone in the community, not just one group, I plan to become a family nurse practitioner (FNP). I want to improve the neighborhood for everyone, from youngsters to the elderly, and I have a long-term vision for it. I want to use everything I’ve learned to help the community as a whole in whatever way I can. It is my ambition to help as many people as possible through my studies at Walden University. Lifelong learning and ethical and legal integrity, as well as effective communication and support for diversity are just few of the MSN program outcomes that align with my personal aspirations for my future career path (Walden University, 2021). Scholar-practitioners must analyze and work toward all program outcomes in order to be the best. It’s important to know when to take a step back and admit that you don’t understand something, but knowing where to look for the knowledge and answers is the most important part of information literacy. As a health care worker, we never stop learning, thus that fits with lifelong learning. Throughout the program, I hope to acquire the skills and information necessary to realize and put into effect all of the outcomes.
For me, networking is an essential part of achieving both my professional and academic goals since it’s a matter of finding out where the answers are or who to turn to when we have problems. To be successful, we must be able to openly discuss our educational successes and ambitions with others who have similar interests and experiences. Because I may need a letter of recommendation, a job, counsel, or anything else, having a network of people to turn to during the program will help me reach my goals. According to this statistic, “the vast majority of employment are secured through networking” (Schmidt, K., 2020). Long-term success and advancement depend on it. You might even become lifelong colleagues who can help you out while you’re just starting out as a practitioner, assuming you build a strong enough network connection. Even if there are many ways to network, we can now do it at the touch of a button. Nowadays, networking is primarily accomplished through social media platforms such as Linkedin, Instagram, and Twitter, to name just a few (Wofford, P., 2018). Nowadays, networking is a million times easier than it was 50 years ago, thanks to the internet’s near-constant availability.

Networking Opportunities
My name is Guerdie Nonez.
Walden’s mission statement emphasizes on the ability of the diverse professionals who graduate from the institution to effect positive change in the society (Walden University, 2011a). In health care, positive change is measured in terms of patient outcomes among others. As such, I intend to further my knowledge at Walden to better the outcomes of my patients albeit to effect positive change. Additionally, one of the goals of Walden University is to provide innovative programs that are at par with the current societal needs (Walden University, 2011b). For instance, as a health practitioner, I look forward to being able to provide the most current and effective management to my patients as opposed to relying on old and potentially outdated guidelines.
Evidence-based practice is cornerstone to nursing and other medical disciplines. At Walden, it is the goal of the institution to provide learning using diverse approaches including evidence-based practice (Walden University, 2011b). I look forward to meeting all the university outcomes as put out by the institution. Above all, I look forward to being able to impact positive change in the profession and the society at large after completing the program.
