My state of residence is Maryland. In Maryland the blood alcohol concentration level that is .08 or greater is considered as under the influence of alcohol. For anyone who is a first time DUI offender in Maryland, they can face up to a $1000 fine and up to a year in jail. On the license, 12 points will be detected, and your license can be revoked up to 6 months. If there were any minors in the car during the DUI offense, the penalties could double. The legal limit is a .08 blood alcohol level for NON-COMMERCIAL drivers. For any driver under the age of 21, their legal blood alcohol level is at .02 (Ji Kwon & Han, 2019). The regulation is important in sensitizing people about drinking under influence of alcohol. Residents and other road users understand the repercussion of using roads while drink. A first-time offender with a Driving Under the Influence in Nebraska faces a prison term of up to 60 days and a fine of up to $500. However, the regularly offenders may have a worse punishment as a result of their frequent violation of the law. The authority may forbid frequent DUI offenders from driving on major roads. The cancellation of the driving license signifies restriction from using public roads (Oh et al., 2020). The state of Nebraska has lost road users due to accidents caused by drunk drivers on the road. As a result, DUI is considered a serious violation of road regulations.
